Supporting Families

Families are being challenged, financially and emotionally, at both ends of the age spectrum.

Young families simply cannot afford childcare costs in this county or state. Quality childcare is an essential element for stable families, working parents, and a healthy overall family environment. On the other end of the spectrum, seniors and people with disabilities who need support cannot find it and if they are fortunate enough to locate an aide or personal care attendant, they often cannot afford them. The costs for care have risen astronomically. Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care insurance and the other “safety nets” are simply not sufficient anymore. We need to pass legislation supporting the family, both young and old.
